Every New Year, we do the same thing: we make big goals.
And then life happens.
Work gets busy. Kids get sick. Travel shows up. Stress shows up.
And suddenly that big goal becomes one more thing we feel like we “failed.”
Over the last few years, I’ve been learning ( trying very hard to learn) how to be gentler with myself when I don’t have the capacity for big change, and how to use small habits that actually help me feel better… and actually stick.
So this year, i encourage you to try something that works:
Tiny habits.
Tiny habits are small enough to do on your hardest day.
That’s why they stick.
Your brain learns by repeating small actions.
Think about tying your shoes.
At first, it took focus. Now you do it without thinking.
That’s the goal for balance, too.
When you practice one tiny reset again and again, your body starts to remember it.
So when stress hits, you don’t need a perfect routine.
You just need a cue… and one minute.
The 60-Second Reset (do this right now!)
Here’s the whole plan:
-
Change positions
-
If you’ve been sitting, stand up.
-
If you’ve been standing, sit down.
-
If you can, step outside for fresh air.
-
Breathe in for 4 (count slowly)
-
Breathe out for 6 (count even more slowly)
-
Repeat 3 times
That’s it.
You’re teaching your nervous system:
“We can slow down. We can reset. We can continue.”
The cue that makes it easy: scent
A cue is a reminder your brain notices.
Scent is one of the fastest cues because it’s strongly tied to memory.
You smell something and your brain goes:
“Oh yeah — we do the reset now.”
That’s why we created Voda Aromatherapy Nasal Wands.
Not just to smell nice — but to help you practice tiny habits your body can learn, so calm becomes easier to access over time.
No wand yet?
You can still practice this with a scent you already love.
Put a tiny bit on your wrist, smell it as you breathe, and use that same scent again and again.
But if you want the easiest, most portable option, a nasal wand is perfect — it’s discreet, fits in your pocket, and makes your reset available anytime, anywhere.
Try the 60-Second Reset:
-
Before you open your inbox
-
Before a meeting
-
Before you drive home
-
Before bed
-
After a hard conversation
-
In the sauna or shower (for a spa-style reset)
The 7-day plan (tiny + doable)
For the first 7 days of the year, try doing the 60-Second Reset once per day.
Same time is great — but any time counts. ( I recommend trying right after lunch or during that mid day slump.
If you miss a day? No shame. Just restart.
That’s how real habits are built.
