Aveda at Life SalonSpa
Our journey and relationship with Aveda began at the 1996 Aveda Congress in Long Beach, California. The incredible focus and integrity of Aveda and its founder Horst Rechelbacher compelled owner and creative director Peter Lawson to join the network, opening his first concept salon soon after. Inspired by David Adams and Antoinette Beenders, he pursued higher education for both himself and the spa team with support from Maritime Beauty Supply.
Aveda's world-renowned educational facilities have given Peter the tools to become a hair colour trainer for Aveda and Maritime Beauty Supply. He looks forward to connecting the Life SalonSpa experience with the people of Halifax, Dartmouth and Bedford.

Blue Heron Botanicals is the passion project born to owner Theora as a young woman living on the Lake Champlain Islands of Vermont. Growing up in a quaint island town nestled between the Adirondack Mountains of New York and the Green Mountains of Vermont Theora learned the importance of responsible and self sustainable living at a young age. Theora’s childhood home is where her deep love of Mother Earth was nurtured by her homesteading parents and where she fell in love with the eternally majestic Great Blue Heron, a welcomed and much anticipated symbol of spring on the lake. Harnessing the rejuvenating energy of spring and the resilient spirit of the Heron, Theora began to create small batch salves and balms that allowed her family’s delicate skin the opportunity to rebound from the harsh conditions to which it was seasonally subjected.
While studying horticulture at the University of Vermont, Theora received the incredible opportunity to intern with a local Burlington based herbalist. During this internship Theora conceived the recipe for her landmark product, Wound Warrior, and the seed of her redwood sized dream of sustainable beauty products was cultivated. Inspired by the life and teachings of the renowned herbalist Rosemary Gladstar, Theora knew that a journey westward was her destiny. To a young herbalist in training, the Pacific northwest called strongly to her and it is ultimately where she found her truth and settled into her identity as a healer and an advocate for the medicinal properties of nature.
From her off grid property in the woods of Northern California Theora runs and operates Blue Heron Botanicals, a sustainable and eco-conscious company. Many of the herbs that are part of each recipe are wildcrafted in Theora’s very own backyard. In addition to creating her product with minimal impact on the environment, Blue Heron Botanicals is also one of the first companies to package its products in 100% post consumer recycled material that is 100% home compostable. Blue Heron Botanicals is a company dedicated to creating products that nourish the mind, body and spirit of all people while respecting and honoring all that Mother Earth has provided.

Our mission is to develop beauty products made with clean, ethically-sourced, and sustainable ingredients. We firmly believe product formulation and ingredients should be held to a higher standard. Our products have clean ingredients, are vegan, organic, cruelty-free, and eco-friendly.
Our founder, Elina Sofia Wang, struggled with stomach ulcers for many years and in early 2018, she started to live a cleaner lifestyle by eating healthier, drinking raw juices, and joining yoga and barre classes. She also started to use clean beauty products but found that there was no sheet mask line on the market that not only had non-toxic formulas but also looked good on the bathroom counter top.
With her B.S. from Babson College, 5+ years of work experience in the beauty industry, and her passion for clean skincare & healthy living, she decided to start her own brand in her home state, New Jersey. Elina’s goal was to create her own products that had creative branding and would not compromise on safety and efficacy. Her priority was to build a brand that has clean ingredients, is cruelty free, and is made with eco-friendly packaging without leaving out the fun.
ESW Beauty’s formula is guaranteed to be non-toxic and will never contain toxic ingredients such as parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, formaldehyde, and sulfate detergents. Elina chose raw juices as her theme for their first line because they were a huge part of her clean living journey and is one of her favorite drinks.
The Go-Comb is a great accessory for someone on the go, or for those who prefer to travel light. The size of a credit card, it fits in any wallet and its lightweight and waterproof material makes it a resilient piece to carry anywhere. It's a unique gift for men, women and teens, as well as fun bridesmaids or groomsmen gifts, especially when personalized.
As so many great inventions have been birthed in the past, Go-Comb too had a distinct "aha!" moment. While inventor Heather was out to dinner with her uncle, he pulled out his wallet to retrieve his black plastic comb (you know the one). There it was, awkwardly protruding out of the folds of his wallet. Not very practical, and certainly not cool.
Heather thought, "why doesn't someone make a comb that fits in a wallet?" After a futile search, she decided to make it herself. She learned how to prototype at a local hacker space, making the first Go-Combs on a laser cutter and opening an Etsy shop within a couple weeks. Her background in fashion led to designs inspired by current pattern and color trends, and with unchecked creativity, she launched with an overwhelming and whimsical assortment.
Fast forward through a successful Kickstarter campaign, four manufacturing processes, many trade shows and a few learning curves later, and Go-Comb is an established brand carried in hundreds of stores across the US and abroad. With press features including TODAY Show, Vogue and Uncrate and distinguished retailers from MoMA to Urban Outfitters, Go-Comb continues to impress in the world of function and design.
We named our new company Dirt Bag® Beauty because not only did it suit the product, which uses a dry blend of ingredients analogous to dirt, but also as a reminder that good things can come out of some very bad circumstances.
Dirt Bag Lip Scrub and Conditioner is:
♡ FREE of toxins, fillers, parabens, synthetics, phthalates, artificial chemicals and fragrance
♡ We use only active, Non-GMO, sustainable, food-grade, mostly vegan and organic ingredients
♡ We are cruelty-free, Eco-friendly & made in the California

What inspires us:
"Every nine seconds in the United States a woman is assaulted or beaten. Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined."
As a female owned business, we've taken a pledge to help build awareness of Domestic Violence and to share our story to help encourage others to seek out help. As such, a percentage of Dirt Bag Beauty proceeds are donated to Domestic Violence shelters in Los Angeles, CA.
Life is a journey and sometimes the choices we make take us down a path where we experience pain. In today’s world, it’s easy to be victimized whether you’re a man or a woman. It’s how you overcome it that matters.
I am Survivor of Domestic Violence. With the help from good Samaritans, I was able to flee an abusive environment hoping to start a new life. Healing from trauma takes time. During this period, Dirt Bag® Beauty was created. My daughters suggested we have a spa night and proposed we use a face mask to feel rejuvenated and look fresh. We went searching to find the perfect mask, but were unhappy with all the chemicals, fillers, and toxins in the masks we found. In response, I decided to create a pure, natural skincare brand centered on face masks made with all active ingredients that contain no fillers, no preservatives, and no artificial chemicals.
Dirt Bag launched on February 1, 2018. We believe in complete transparency surrounding our brand; it's authentic and pure. We hope you Enjoy our Dirt Bag® Products!
Bailly is committed to offering scents that will not negatively impact your health. Our perfume oils are coconut oil-based, which helps to create a soft scent that is long-lasting but not irritating or overpowering. It is also an excellent skin moisturizer. Our oils are free of harmful chemicals, such as parabens and phthalates, as well as cruelty-free and vegan.
What inspired us to launch perfume oils:
The conversation around fragrance, specifically here in Canada, is very negative, with many places having very strict scent policies. But scent is such a powerful sensory experience. We really saw an opportunity to change that narrative and make perfume an exciting category again.
When doing our research, we found that alcohol was one of the top complaints of consumers, with many claiming it is the cause of their headaches. Going with an oil-based perfume makes our scents a lot more subtle and less irritating for those people. It also lasts longer than your typical alcohol-based perfume. You’ll typically get three to four hours of wear out of an alcohol-based perfume, whereas with an oil-based fragrance, you get about six to eight hours.
How we got started:
Co-Founders Ariel Gough and Edwina Govindsamy like to say that they met on an "adult playdate.” Introduced by Edwina's mother over coffee in 2015, they hit it off and immediately knew that they wanted to build a business together.
Authenticity, Empowerment, Inclusivity & Impact.
Bailly was inspired by the fiercely strong and ambitious women around us.We strongly believe in helping women and girls to recognize the power that they have to achieve their dreams and change the world.
We want people to look at our brand and see themselves, either doing something similar or being inspired by our journey. If you look on our Instagram, we’ve shared a lot of our story about how we met and why we chose the fragrances that we did. We want people to feel a part of building the brand in an authentic way.
We want our brand to be more empowering and for people to wear our scents during the most important moments in life. We want it to be a part of their reality. We also wanted to make an impact in the broader community.
And then of course inclusivity because we want to see more diverse representation in the industry.
